Project:  El Centro College Building A Remodel
Client:  Dallas County Community College District
Architect:  McAfee3 Architects
Note:  This project was divided into 4 Phases to allow normal day-to-day operations to continue while school was in sessions

Phase 1 consisted of the demolition of Medical and Dental labs and replacing them with new classrooms on floors 6,7, & 8. The labs that were being demoed only took up part of each floor. The new class rooms consisted of new walls, doors and hardware (keyed to match the existing building system), new finishes for the walls (tape, bed, texture and paint), floors (terrazzo tile and carpet tile) and ceilings (lay in and sheetrock ceilings), new AV systems, new electrical panels and circuits, tying in new VAV’s to the existing chilled water system and air handling units, tying plumbing into the existing system, reconfiguring the fire sprinkler to match the new class room lay out and new fire alarm. The remodel of these floors made it necessary that the Fire Alarm for each floor to be brought up to current code. Phase 2 was completed by August - 2009 to allow the college to use them for new classes at the start of September.

Phase 2 consisted of the complete demolition and rebuilding of offices and testing labs in the basement for the financial aid and placement department. The new offices and testing labs consisted of new walls, doors, and hardware, new finishes for the walls, floors and ceilings, new AV systems, new electrical panels and circuits, tying in new VAV’s to the exisiting chilled water system and new air handling units, brought to the area and assembled in place. Phase 3 and 4 consisted of the demolition and rebuilding of new offices on the the main floor 1/2 at a time for the admissions and administration departments. Phase 3 was completed by Jan. - 2010. Phase 4 was completed by Feb. - 2010.
